Macroalgae
I am setting up my tank and will be purchasing a few tangs, I was wondering if in my refugium I can grow more than one macro? Will it have a negative affect on the water ? I was thinking chateo, ulva and maybe one more.
Any suggestions on how I should go about this? I plan on growing it just to have different varieties for their feedings. |

If you have enough room in you refugium you can grow several varieties. Generally one will outgrow the others and choke the weaker varieties out, but if you keep them pruned, no problem. Tangs will not necessarily eat all varieties of algae.

I buy a pack of 50 very large sheets for $5 at the Asian Market store. If Utah has one, Miami definitely has one. Then just clip it to the side and he will chow down. My yellow Tang LOVES NORI.

and if you want to grow fresh veggies for them skip cheato, go with:
flame algea, if you can get some dragons breath (type of flame) it grows exceedingly fast from a single leaf to fist sized in 2-3 weeks. gracilaria, tangs love this stuff another fast grower as well ulva: sea lettuce, need I say more? If you get worried about 1 type choking out another make a couple little acrylic dividers for your fuge, I made clear acrylic boxes myself and just plunked them on in. |
